George Muller (1804-1898) is today one of the most famous Christian missionaries in Church history, but the character he displayed in his youth gave no indication that he would be used by God in such miraculous ways as he was.
By his own account, Muller was a habitual thief, cheat and liar from the age of 10, and it was only while he was attending seminary in his native Germany that he began to hear the call of God on his life. Not long after he was saved, Muller was convinced God was calling him into missionary work, and soon he headed to London, England to minister to Jewish people on the city’s east side. Health and other ministry issues influenced Muller to leave London and eventually settle in Bristol along England’s southern coast. Continue reading
